Lilbits: Tariffs and tech prices, a 13.3 inch color ePaper monitor, and a dual-screen rugged phone - Liliputing
So it’s an interesting time to be writing about weird gadgets produced by small Chinese companies because I have no idea if the price tags they’re advertising this week are going to be the actual prices for long now that the Trump administration has imposed a global tariffs on imports to the United States. Some of the places that are seeing the highest tariffs are places like China, Taiwan, and Vietnam that play an especially large role in the consumer electronics industry.
The exemption that had allowed companies to in China and Taiwan to ship items valued at $800 or less to the US without paying duties are also going away in May. And that could remove the competitive advantage that Chinese retailers and marketplaces like Shein, Temu, and AliExpress have had for years.
Anyway, here’s a roundup of some recent tech news. Take anything that mentions a price tag with a grain of salt!
Bigme teases an upcoming portable monitor with a 13.3 inch Color ePaper display featuring 150 pixels per inch and up to a 30 Hz refresh rate. The tease image also suggests it’ll be able to clip onto laptop for use as a second screen. www.reddit.com/r/Bigme/comm…

In addition to announcing tariffs that will apply to goods shipped to the US from every country around the world, the Trump administration is also ending the exemption on cheap products from Hong Kong & China, affecting companies like Temu, Shein, and AliExpress.
